The Return of the 31 Days of Our Favorite Horror: Prologue

Hello all!

Jay here, and it has been a very long time since I’ve posted some written content. I’ve blathered on in the past about how I’d swear that I’m going to put more up – yadda, yadda, yadda.

Well, that was the plan, but life happened. Mike and I are still regularly recording, but even that has been challenging with various circumstances that only life itself can bring about. Nonetheless, we will use the month of October, once again, to develop and provide fresh content for your little peepers to peep.

Mike’s current plan is to write about the horror themed games that he is playing currently. By tomorrow his first post will be up, as will my first post about a horror or psychological thriller I have watched since last October until present.

And this year I have decided to widen the scope of genre movies that I write about, because frankly the movies that got me the best this passed year have been mainly psychological thrillers with horror themes. And I will not only write about the ones that blew me away or surpassed expectations, because many did, but I will also write about the disappointments, of which there were a few.

So, as we wrap up September, let’s get ready for the month-long meditation on horror themed movies and games.

The Untenable Podcast, Episode 59: The Big Short on the Wall

UntenPod Ep 59 graphic

A.K.A. The tale of two episodes.

Okay, so yet again we are up against a bandwidth shortfall, preventing us from putting up an entire episode. This week, a shortened 39 minute cut will drop on iTunes on Tuesday, as usual. And the entire episode, a total of 70 minutes, hits SoundCloud immediately. We think you’ll enjoy either episode, or hopefully both. The show notes should indicate what we tackle this week.

The Untenable Podcast, Episode 58: The Films and the Furious

The one where Mike and Jay talk films.

In this week’s episode, Mike and Jay talk films they’ve seen lately, starting with Mike’s reaction to Furious 7. They end up talking about Mike’s latest gaming adventures.

The Untenable Podcast, Episode 57: Tomorrowland is Never Promised

The one where Mike and Jay fight for tomorrow.

In this week’s episode, Mike and Jay talk movies, especially Mike’s revisiting of Inherent Vice and Mad Max Fury Road; he also reveals his relative enjoyment of The Wedding Ringer and later go tete-a-tete about Avengers: Age of Ultron. In the world of television, they wax sentimental and feign fury over reactions to recent and past television shows. Jay also puts his tinfoil hat on and talks of the impending 9/23 Doomsday predictions, relates those conspiracies to Mike’s new favorite, Tomorrowland. And then to bring it home, Mike gives us some gaming, talking primarily about his experiences with Never Alone and revisiting some Metal Gear titles.

The one at Toys R Us

This week’s episode is a “roadie” where Mike and Jay “do the line” at Toys R Us for the Force Friday midnight release of the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens toys. Talk veers into movies, gaming, and some parting thoughts about the late Wes Craven.

The reruns begin.

This week, Mike and Jay opt to rebroadcast their pilot episode titled Too Many Secrets in Detroit. This is before our fancy theme, our newfangled recording methods, and our soaring downloads. But it also birthed our meandering and untenable grasps on pop culture.
