This One Hurts…

Mike and I just heard the news that iconic filmmaker, producer, and author Wes Craven has passed away at age 76 of brain cancer. The Untenable Podcast wishes to extend our deepest sympathies to the Craven family in this time of grief.

Any fan of film has more than likely come across the art of Mr. Craven at some point. His creations are iconic, have developed cult followings, and had an element of prescience in culture. It’s nearly impossible to look at modern film, specifically horror, and not find some sort of inspiration or links to the work of Wes Craven.

I’m nearly at a loss for words. It’s possible that we will either write some more about Wes Craven, or even release a bonus episode talking about Wes Craven. At this point, who knows.

This news hit us really hard.

The one where they’re back on track…sort of.

In this week’s episode, Mike and Jay talk about happier days playing with Star Wars toys, ponder the last episode of the Saga with the Jurassic World director at the helm; the two also spend an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out the time loop of The Edge of Tomorrow and the moral ethics of Snowpiercer.  Also, Mike finally finished Sunset Overdrive and talks of a new play, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture.

That time when Mike phoned it in.

In this week’s episode, Mike and Jay go all over the map and talk of Star Wars: Episode 7 and the potency of certain character deaths, more gaming updates, and podcast recommendations. And of course, ruminate about the future direction of the podcast.

The Untenable Podcast, Episode 52: “Fantastic Four Out of Ten”

“…This is just a pause in the conversation.”

In this week’s episode, Mike and Jay spend too much time trying to figure out where Josh Trank’s swan song, Fantastic Four, went wrong; they also speculate how this could affect other comic book movie properties. They also say goodbye to exiting talk show host, Jon Stewart. Also, gaming talk.
